​Reflecting on the Summer Semester 2024: MBA Leadership & Management at UE Berlin

As the summer semester of 2024 comes to a close, I find myself reflecting on what an incredible experience it has been. This year, I had the privilege of teaching the MBA Leadership & Management Course at the University of Europe for Applied Sciences in Berlin, where I welcomed over 50 students from more than 12 countries.

A Dynamic and Engaging Course

One of the things that made this semester so special was the diversity of perspectives brought by the students. Leadership is a concept that varies across cultures, industries, and personal experiences, making the discussions in our course rich, insightful, and thought-provoking.

Throughout the semester, we explored Leadership Styles in connection with Organisational Excellence and Structures, diving deep into what makes a great leader and how leadership frameworks impact business success.

We also tackled Sustainable Business Models, analyzing how companies today are integrating sustainability into their core strategies—not just as a trend, but as a foundation for long-term success. Social Performance was another crucial topic, as leadership in the 21st century goes beyond financial success and requires a commitment to people and the planet.

Case Studies and Practical Insights

Case studies were at the heart of our learning experience. From analyzing successful sustainable business strategies to real-life change management scenarios, students had the chance to apply theory to real-world challenges.

A key part of the course was Change Management in Organizations, where students examined transformational leadership, resistance to change, and strategies for overcoming it. The final project put all of these elements into practice—students worked on their own strategies for a change process in the Upper Lusatia region, a part of Germany undergoing a major structural transformation.

A Semester of Growth and Inspiration

Looking back, this semester was filled with engaging discussions, insightful presentations, and meaningful collaboration. Seeing students take on complex leadership challenges with confidence and creativity was truly inspiring.

Leadership is an evolving journey, and it has been a pleasure to guide my students through some of the key principles that will help them lead with impact in their future careers.
