A great event this summer was the international Summer School of the University of Applied Science Europe, conducted by me with students from Mexico, Saudi Arabia, Spain, Peru and Germany.
Students are having a long summer break? Not at all ! At least not the student who participated in years International Summer School for Sport- and Event Management which was organised by the University for applied Science Europe in Berlin.
During the 14-day summer school, during which students were credited with 6CETS for their studies, new and very practical insights into the world of sports and event management were gained. In addition to the theoretical foundations, practical examples and own project work in sports management were on the program of the participants. In addition to the Business Model Canvas - applied to the sports industry - the contents of this summer school included international strategies in sport (including the example of rugby and the football World Cup 2022 in Qatar), leadership and law. From the university, there were a total of six excursions to sports clubs and events in Berlin and Hamburg (including FC St Pauli, Alba Berlin and Eisbären Berlin). Here, the students were able to deepen the theoretical content imparted at the university in discussions and discussions with local experts. An important tool of the group work and the excursions was the edubreakSPORTCAMPUS, a digital learning environment that not only served for the general exchange of learning materials. Based on the social video learning concept, the students had the task to record daily small videos and reflections, to upload to the campus and to comment on videos of the other participants. It was an intensive two weeks, during which the students learned a lot of new things, made contacts and made friends. In the coming year 2019, the Summer School of the University of Applied Science will again take place in Berlin and probably Iserlohn and Hamburg. After the great success of this year’s event, the planning for Summer School 2019 is already on the way. Students who are interested to spent the Summer in one of the most vibrent cities in the world and upskill their knowledge in Sport- and Event Management can contact me direct via this webpage.
